The Soundskin Phototherapy System incorporates red and blue lights in the same lamp housing and uses both colors within the same treatment. The FDA has recently granted SoundSkin a clearance for using both red and blue light for the treatment of moderate acne and skin stimulation.

The red light runs for 10 minutes then changes to blue light for 10 minutes. At the end of the 20 minute cycle it automatically shuts off. The output strength of the lights fall within the Health and Safety Executive guidelines for occupational exposure of unprotected eyes and skin.

The lamps are dichroic filtered with no UV content and the output does not traumatize the skin. A non invasive and drug free procedure makes this system suitable for the 30% of adults and teenagers that suffer with moderate acne.

The red wavelengths of 635nm helps create anti-inflammatory stimulation within the pores and follicles of problem skin; the 435nm of blue light helps stimulate porphyrin in the sebum to release oxygen to create a photodynamic effect on the P.Acne bacteria. The oxygenation process helps to reduce encapsulated inflammation within the spots, allowing the pores and follicles to shrink as naturally as possible.

In clinical studies there was up to 85% reduction in inflammatory spots at 12 weeks, with a top up treatment every 4 weeks the results were maintained for 20 weeks. Studies indicate that there is a positive link between red and blue lights and increased fibroblast activity essential to increase collagen production for new cell growth for acne prone skin and mature skin.

Clinical results offer a conclusion that red and blue wavelengths help to produce a natural response within the dermal layers, stimulating the dermis which helps to improve the appearance of the epidermis. A series of treatments helps promote more vibrant and healthy skin.
